Health Department Holds Medical Camps in Flood-Hit Areas of Surankote.
Jammu/Poonch/ Danik News Udaan In a major relief initiative for flood-affected residents, the Health Department on Tuesday organised special medical camps in the flood-hit areas of Lower Murrah, Dara Sangla and Hari Marhote in Block Surankote.
The camps were conducted on the directions of Deputy Commissioner Poonch Ashok Kumar Sharma (JKAS), under the overall supervision of Director Health Services Jammu, Dr. Poonam Sethi.
Three dedicated medical teams comprising Medical Officers and paramedical staff were deployed to provide healthcare services to the affected population.
The camps were organised under the guidance of Chief Medical Officer Poonch, Dr. Parvaiz Ahmed Khan, and the supervision of the Block Medical Officer, Surankote.
A total of 398 flood-affected residents attended the camps. All patients underwent medical examination and received free medicines on the spot.
The Health Department also launched an awareness drive to educate people about health risks that commonly arise after floods.
Residents were informed about water-borne diseases such as diarrhoea, cholera, typhoid, hepatitis A and dysentery, as well as vector-borne diseases including malaria and dengue caused by mosquito breeding in stagnant water.
They were also made aware of the risks of skin, respiratory and eye infections, along with tetanus.
The public was advised to drink only boiled or chlorinated water, maintain proper personal and environmental hygiene, use mosquito nets, remove stagnant water around their homes, and seek immediate medical care if symptoms of illness appear.
The medical teams were appreciated for their dedicated and professional services in ensuring timely healthcare assistance to flood-affected communities.
The Health Department reiterated its commitment to continue providing essential medical care and preventive health services to all flood-affected areas across the district.
