GDC Doongi Organises Seminar on Financial Literacy and Awareness.

Government Degree College Doongi organised a seminar on Financial Literacy and Awareness under the able guidance of the worthy Principal, Prof. (Dr.) Chanchal Angral. The programme was organised with the objective of creating greater awareness among students about financial planning, savings, investment, and responsible financial decision-making.

The programme commenced with the welcome address by Prof. (Dr.) Chanchal Angral, Principal, GDC Doongi. In her address, she highlighted the growing importance of financial literacy in the lives of young people and emphasised the need for students to develop sound financial habits and make informed decisions regarding their finances.

The resource person for the programme, Prof. Pawan Kumar Gupta, Retired Professor, Higher Education Department, Jammu & Kashmir, and SEBI SMART Securities Market Trainer, delivered an informative and thought-provoking lecture on various aspects of financial literacy.

Drawing upon practical examples and real-life situations, he sensitised students to the importance of understanding financial products, assessing risks, and making informed investment choices.

He particularly guided the students on how and where to invest wisely, while cautioning them against uninformed financial decisions.

Shri Rakesh Kumar Pandita, Retired, Higher Education Department, Jammu & Kashmir, and Coordinator, Financial Literacy, also addressed the gathering and underlined the importance of developing financial awareness at an early stage. He encouraged students to cultivate responsible financial habits and acquire the knowledge necessary to manage their financial resources effectively.

The interactive session provided students with useful and practical insights into financial planning, saving, investment, risk assessment, and money management. The discussion also provided an opportunity for students to interact with the resource persons and seek clarification on matters related to financial decision-making.

The proceedings of the programme were anchored by Dr. Mukhtar Hussain, Department of Sociology, who conducted the session in a smooth and systematic manner.

The programme concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Prof. Kajal Samyal, who expressed gratitude to the resource persons, Principal, faculty members, and students for their valuable presence and contribution to the successful conduct of the programme.

The seminar proved to be a meaningful and informative initiative towards strengthening financial awareness among students and encouraging them to approach financial decisions with greater knowledge, caution, and responsibility.
