Govt. Degree College (GDC) Doongi in collaboration with GDC Kotranka, successfully concluded a two-day virtual international conference on “Transforming Indian Education through NEP 2020: From Local Roots to Global Excellence” on September 25, 2026.
Held under the patronage of J&K Higher Education Minister Sakina Itoo and Commissioner Secretary Higher Education Ram Niwas Sharma, the conference brought together academicians, researchers and educationists from India and abroad to discuss the implementation, challenges and transformative potential of the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020.
The inaugural session was addressed by Dr. Twinkle Suri, Director Colleges, Higher Education Department, J&K, as Chief Guest, while Prof. Geeta Singh of the University of Delhi was the Guest of Honour.
Dr. Vishwambhar Prasad Sati, Mizoram University, delivered the keynote address and highlighted the importance of the Indian Knowledge System and multidisciplinary education.
The conference featured two plenary and four technical sessions, with speakers from India, South Africa, Nepal, Switzerland, Germany and Sri Lanka.
More than 80 participants from different academic and professional backgrounds presented their research papers and participated in discussions.
The valedictory session highlighted the importance of research, innovation, multidisciplinary learning and institutional collaboration for effective implementation of NEP 2020.
Principal GDC Doongi Prof. (Dr.) Chanchal Angral appreciated the speakers, researchers, faculty members, organizing teams and participants for making the conference successful.
The conference was coordinated by Dr. Mohd Sajar, Convener, and Prof. Kajal Samyal, Co-Convener, with Prof.
Anayat Ullah Khan and Prof. Anzar Ahmed Khokhar as Organizing Secretaries and Dr. M. Ashaq Malik as Coordinator.
The successful event was described as a significant academic achievement for the Pir Panjal region and provided a platform for meaningful academic exchange and global collaboration.
