JAMMU/POONCH : CMO Poonch Inspects SDH Mendhar, Directs Early Operationalisation of New Dialysis Unit

Under the guidance of Dr. Poonam Sethi, Director Health Services Jammu, Dr. Parvaiz Ahmed Khan, Chief Medical Officer (CMO), Poonch, conducted a comprehensive inspection of Government Sub-District Hospital, Mendhar, to review healthcare facilities and ensure effective delivery of medical services. He was accompanied by Dr. Gazala Chowdhury, Block Medical Officer, Mendhar.
During the inspection, the CMO reviewed various key sections of the hospital, including the X-ray unit, laboratory, dental section, casualty and emergency room, wards, immunisation section, operation theatre, ultrasound section, dispensary, drug store, gynaecology OPD, labour room and Ayushman Bharat–PM-JAY Sehat registration counter.
Special attention was given to the newly established Dialysis Unit. Dr. Khan reviewed its infrastructure and directed the concerned staff to make the facility fully operational within the next few days. Once functional, the unit will provide dialysis services locally to patients from Mendhar and adjoining areas, reducing the need to travel to Poonch or other distant centres.
The CMO also inspected the 500 LPM Oxygen Generation Plant, established in 2022 under the PM CARES Fund, and personally verified the purity of the oxygen being generated.
He also reviewed the recently commissioned Effluent Treatment Plant (ETP).
During interaction with patients, the CMO sought feedback regarding the services being provided at the hospital.
He directed doctors and paramedical staff to strictly adhere to the prescribed dress code and punctuality, maintain a courteous and patient-friendly approach, uphold patients’ rights, ensure high standards of cleanliness and hygiene, and strictly follow biomedical waste management protocols.
The inspection underscored the health administration’s commitment to strengthening healthcare infrastructure and ensuring accessible, quality medical services for the people of Mendhar and adjoining areas.
