On the occasion of the 80th Independence Day, the Red Ribbon Club of Shaheed Ganisham Govt. Degree College Doongi in collaboration with J&K Bank, Zonal Office Rajouri, organised a voluntary blood donation camp at the bank’s premises.
The programme began with a solemn flag-hoisting ceremony, followed by a two-minute silence in memory of the freedom fighters who sacrificed their lives for the freedom of the nation.
Speakers highlighted that while freedom fighters and brave soldiers made the supreme sacrifice for the country, citizens can honour their legacy by donating blood and saving precious lives.
The camp was inaugurated by the Chief Guest, Rajeev Digra Zonal Head, J&K Bank Zonal Office Rajouri who himself donated blood and set an inspiring example. Dr. Chanchal Angral, Principal Shaheed Ganisham Government Degree College, Doongi, also voluntarily donated blood and encouraged students, staff and bank officials to participate in the noble cause.
Addressing the gathering, the Zonal Head said that freedom fighters had sacrificed their blood for the nation and that by donating blood today, the youth were carrying forward their legacy of service.
He appreciated the collaboration between J&K Bank and the college in promoting voluntary blood donation and the spirit of giving.
Dr. Chanchal Angral said that serving humanity was one of the best ways to celebrate Independence Day.
She appreciated the staff and volunteers for demonstrating their commitment to saving lives and strengthening the spirit of community service.
A team of doctors and paramedical staff from the Blood Bank of Government Medical College (GMC) Rajouri conducted the blood donation process. More than 15 faculty members, bank officials and volunteers donated blood.
Members of the Red Ribbon Club and J&K Bank staff managed registration, counselling and post-donation care, while also creating awareness among participants about the importance of voluntary blood donation.
The programme concluded with a vote of thanks by the Convenor of the Red Ribbon Club.
The college administration and J&K Bank expressed gratitude to the medical team and all the donors for their valuable contribution in making the camp a success.
